(no subject)
[Cameras roll. You wake up in a room. A dirty classroom in a dilapidated building. There's a collar fitted around your neck, and other people who are just as confused as you. Around you are men and women dressed toe to tip in high quality combat gear, and guns held ready to fire in their hands. The only exception is the boy with pink hair and a tail, a metallic arm, and a yellow coverall tied at the waist standing at the front of the room. He's grinning ear-to-ear, teeth looking as though he could tear into any one of you right here and now, with a gun just the same as the other personnel in the room.
No one speaks, until another boy comes in from behind the soldiers; one with red eyes, two scars, and a half-black half-white jacket rolled up to his elbows. He wheels a large TV into the room on one of those tall, rolling stands from high schools everywhere. Rather than hooked up to a VCR, there's a computer case underneath, and an assorted set of wires and cords.]
Good morning~!
[He hums cheerfully as he pushes the TV into place. When he's satisfied, he steps aside to not stand in the way of it, standing next to the pink-haired boy. Neither of them seem to be much older than you are right now, or maybe they're even younger. The red-eyed boy appears to be the only one unarmed, sans a small remote he holds in his hand. His grin isn't as sharp as the other's, but it's no less sinister.]
You've all been been specially chosen to participate in the Battle Test No. 69 Program-- [Nice.] --the annual Battle Royale! The purpose of this game is to kill all your other competitors, and be the last person left standing. Whoever wins will be allowed to leave the island with their life and limbs in tact! So, let's start by going over the rules, yeah?
[He turns to the TV again, clicking a button on his remote to make the screen flicker to life. It lights up, and the video starts to play as it flashes the title card; for those watching at home, the camera zooms in on the video to let it take up the entire screen.]
The Correct Way to Fight in Battle Royale!
[The title card disappears, and the screen shows a teenage girl with red hair, red eyes, a microphone headset, and black and white accoutrements that seem to match the red-eyed boy's jacket. As she speaks, her voice is extremely peppy, and her movements are as if she were a character from a childrens' show, or a particularly enthusiastic idol.]
Hello to everyone in North Vandare High School, Class 79~! You are the lucky class chosen for this year's Battle Royale! Congratulations!
Now I'm going to explain the rules. Listen carefully, then fight the right way with everything you've got!
[The screen shifts to a 3D map of the island, with the girl still narrating in the corner.]
You have all been brought to this cute little uninhabited island! It's about 10km in diameter, but we evacuated everyone, so it's totally deserted~. There's no one else here at all, so you can go as wiiild as you want! The island has been divided into all these little areas. The mastermind will make announcements at 12:00 and 6:00 am and pm, and they'll tell you which areas are going to be dangerous and from what time. If you're in one of the areas, you better move! You want to know why?
[The map disappears, and the girl returns to focus, suddenly appearing with one of the same metal collars around her neck she can gesture to.]
That's where these cute necklaces we have you wearing come into it! They are completely water and shockproof, and there's no way to get them off! This sensor monitors your pulse, telling us exactly where you are and what you're doing. If you're still in a danger area when the time runs out, or you're doing something naughty, we'll send a signal of our own! The necklace will sound an alarm, and then... BOOM!! It'll explode! Trying to force it off will also make it explode, so don't even try it, OK? It'd be such a terrible way to lose...!
Ah, something else I need to tell you! This game has a time limit: three days! If one single survivor isn't determined in that time, ALL the necklaces will AUTOMATICALLY explode, and it's poof! Off with your heads! No one will win! So you may as well fight as hard as you can and make sure that doesn't happen, OK~?
Now, you're going to leave the classroom one by one. But before that, you'll be given a bag. [The screen changes once again, to all the supplies laid out on a table like a sample counter, and gestures to each one in turn.] Inside is food and water, a map, compass, flashlight, and a weapon. Check it out for yourself! Each one contains a different and unique weapon that only you possess! But not everyone will get a gun or knife. It's totally random, with some good and some not so good at all~. This will give everyone a fighting chance!
[She leans down towards the table, picking something up from behind the bags-- a long, metallic spear with a point like an arrowhead, and the tip splashed with pink paint. She beholds it with feigned surprise, before turning her attention back to the camera.]
....Wooow! Someone got REALLY lucky with this one~!
[Another little jingle plays, and the video ends. The red-eyed boy turns it off, and one of the soldiers takes up the burden of rolling it out of the way for him.]
In case anyone's worried, we'll also be making an announcement every day along with the 6am notification. We'll let you know who's already dead, and who's still standing, so you'll know how much work you have to do to get to the top. And remember, there's nothing stopping you from stealing the weapons off your dead opponents, so it's first come first serve! [He winks, snapping his fingers and holding the thumb and pointer up like an awkwardly shaped V, almost imitating the girl who gave the presentation.] But we'll be sure to clean up the dead bodies for you, no problem.
Any questions?
announcements i have done so much writing today
[At midnight of the first day, Hinata's voice appears over the islands' loudspeakers, loud and clear. There's the announcement of the new deadzones, and then:]
So, how's everyone doing so far? Let's see, who didn't make it?
Zim, Kain, Altair, Cassandra... they've all bit the bullet, but I'll be honest, I didn't give Zim very high odds. Cairo's dead, but she pretty much just handed someone else the win on that one, huh? Fiddleford's kicked the bucket, but I have to give him props for just out and out trying to bite people. You guys should've seen it.
Eugene's out, but he really has no one to blame but himself at this point. Six killed Five, so I guess next he'll have to get through seven to eight nine...? And let's be real, Riley never stood a chance, right? We all think that?
Everyone else is still alive and kicking, though it looks like one of your fellow contestants didn't make it past the day without some serious problems... if you can smell blood in the water, I'd say that's an easy kill, isn't it? And remember, the more people that die, the closer you get to making it out alive yourself.
Happy killing~!
DAY 2
[At midnight on the second day, Hinata's voice returns over the loudspeakers. He lists the new deadzones, but that's clearly not the fun part, is it?]
Okaayyy, so... it looks like there's only six of you left. Not bad!
Six and Thirteen are both down and out, so that means we don't have anymore of our number-themed friends, hm? Well, I can't really imagine someone like them having enough presence to make it to the end, anyway.
Blues and Sparkling are gone, too. I hope no one was hoping for a tearful reunion... That means there's only six of you left.
Remember-- [His voice suddenly becomes serious, almost threatening, as though he could speak a dark presence out onto the island with nothing but his own ire.] --only one of you gets out alive, or none of you get out alive. You can play buddy-buddy all you want, but it's just gonna create more suffering for you in the end when you turn on each other. And they'll have to turn on you.
After all, nobody really wants to die in this world, y'know...? There's only one day left. Don't make yourself such an easy target.
[Without further fanfare, the loudspeakers shut off.]
DAY 3 - TRUE
[It's noon on the third day, and the deadline is drawing closer. The speakers crackle to life, with the usual recitation of the new deadzones, and then:]
Shoka, Phil, and Steve are all dead! I'm glad we've all learned a lesson about trying to be a hero, right? Poor Steve really did give it up all for nothing... really thought he could've won. Shoka too, so I guess I've lost my bet... and it looks like your little truce didn't really help Phil out in the end, hm?
[There's still the edge of darkness in his voice, but he's at least back to being cheerfully amused.]
I hope you're happy with yourself~ False hope just makes it hurt even more at the end.
There's only three of you left, and six hours remain. Only two people standing between you and your life. Happy killing.
DAY 3 - ALTERNATE
[It's noon on the third day, and the deadline is drawing closer. The speakers crackle to life, with the usual recitation of the new deadzones, and then:]
Ah, it looks like no one's actually died since yesterday. That's pretty lame... You guys aren't up to anything without me, are you?
[The edge of darkness creeps into his voice just like yesterday, but there's something a bit more wrong about it.]
If five more people don't die, then none of you gets to live... Well, I guess it doesn't really affect me that much, but it wouldn't be a cool ending at all. It's a little unfair to let the others hold you back. Did you really want to kill all those people, and then leave their deaths to be in vain?
Or could it be... maybe someone's already planning to take the rest of you out when you least expect it. That's what I'd do.
Remember, you only have six hours left.
I can hear you.
